Traumatic brain injuries have been called one of the signature injuries of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. But rapid advances have been made in recent years in protecting the brain on the battlefield and treating the injured brain. LTC Col. Chessley R. Atchison, DVM, PhD, program manager, Technology Enabled Capabilities Demonstration, U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, will highlight the scientific advances made in protecting the brain while in combat.
