Eye injuries accounted for about 15 percent of battlefield traumas during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Military personnel endure numerous assaults that potentially impair visual function, whether from a direct blast injury, traumatic brain injury or environmental exposure. What is being done to prevent eye injuries in the field? What new treatments are being developed to restore or repair visual dysfunction? Hear about those questions and more from U.S. Navy CAPT Penny Walter from the Department of Defense's Vision Center of Excellence.
